Post-production coordinator Sarah Bach and VFX coordinator David Pacheco both agree the skills and experience they received at LAVC’s Cinema/Media Arts program were top tier. But they may be biased, because they are now married!
The couple originally met participating in the LAVC Film Club. “I was already treasurer of the Cinema Club,” explains David. “And then Sarah came in one day, and I was like ‘Oh, hey! You’re in my class!’ And then we just started talking.”
Both David and Sarah agree a core advantage of LAVC’s program was the hands-on opportunities it provides students. “You get a lot more freedom at Valley; you get to be creative. You’re not competing with as many people to finish your project. It was such a great experience to be there.”
With the new Valley Academic and Cultural Center opening next year, the couple is excited for future and current LAVC students. Any parting advice? “I wish I’d networked more with the people that were there,” says Sarah. “But it’s not too late to start!”
