The Los Angeles Valley College (LAVC) Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit auxiliary organization formed to generate philanthropic support for Los Angeles Valley College.
MISSION
The LAVC Foundation is committed to making higher education attainable for all in the communities served by the campus by providing scholarships and resources for programs directly benefiting students of our college. The Foundation’s vision is to support LAVC’s mission of student success, lifelong learning, and enriching the lives of its diverse community.
HISTORY
The Los Angeles Valley College Foundation has been supporting students since 1971. The Foundation was originally a ladies’ high tea club that eventually dissolved and re-emerged in 1974 as The Patrons Association, the non-profit foundation of Los Angeles Valley College. The original members were made up of college staff who raised about $2,000 annually from donut sales, recycling programs, and newspaper drives. The Patrons used the funds to award scholarships to Los Angeles Valley College students each year.
Today, The Patrons Association is simply called The Los Angeles Valley College Foundation and remains committed to advancing the teaching and learning objectives of Valley College, and to providing its students an environment that fosters a healthy exchange of ideas.
