Scholarships

The Los Angeles Valley College Foundation provides scholarships for students who register LAVC as their home campus. Scholarships are designed to support students as they continue on their educational journeys. All scholarships are provided by the generosity of independent donors, community members, businesses, LAVC Alumni, and the campus community (and therefore vary in amounts, due dates, and eligibility requirements).

Students: Apply for Scholarships

All scholarships are administered via the Next Gen digital platform and accessed through the Student Information System (SIS) portal. Students submit applications that meet standardized criteria, in addition to any criteria that is specific to certain scholarships. Next Gen uses an algorithm to match students to scholarships based on a student’s qualifications. This system streamlines the process by allowing students to apply for multiple scholarships using a single application. Independent committees then review and select qualified candidates. To apply: Log in to your student portal and click on the “Scholarship Tile.”  Click on “Login Here” next to the Student Log In.

Donors Wishing to Contribute to a Scholarship

Scholarships can be created with a one-time gift, supported through ongoing support, or supported by way of an endowment. A scholarship may be named to honor someone, to memorialize a loved one, name after a specific program or any other association with LAVC.  The donor designates award amount and any criteria to be considered for the scholarship.

To Establish a New Scholarship

Please print and fill out the following Scholarship Form (PDF) and return to: Return to: Ronya Waters at watersre@lavc.edu or mail to the Foundation office.  A minimum gift of $250 is required to establish a scholarship. Should the balance in an account fall below the designated award amount, the remaining monies will be combined with the Foundation General Scholarship Fund.

Donors Wishing to Contribute to a Scholarship

There is no minimum gift requirement to contribute to either an existing scholarship, or to the Foundation General Scholarships Fund, which supports several scholarships each cycle.  Donations can be made via check sent to the foundation office or online at DONATE NOW | Los Angeles Valley College Foundation (lavcfoundation.org) in “Other Designation” with a notation on how to direct the donation.

Named Endowed Scholarships

Please fill out the Endowment Form and return to: Ronya Waters at watersre@lavc.edu or mail to the Foundation Office.  A minimum gift of $10,000 is required to establish an endowed scholarship.  This can be a one-time gift, or pooled from various donors. Interest earned from an endowment can be used to support a scholarship known as an Endowed Scholarship.  Should the interest for the year not earn enough to support the award amount, the scholarship will be paused and offered again in the next scholarship cycle.
